I graduated from Southern Methodist University in May 2012, earning my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and a minor in Business.
I switched gears my senior year from broadcast journalism to public relations when I interned at a local Dallas PR company, MY2. At this time I also got into event design and promotions while working at the 2012 Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game. I discovered my true passions working with, rather than for, the media and helping organize and coordinate large events.
My convergence journalism classes provided me with the experience needed to communicate well with others and the skills required to tackle multi-media platforms. I worked on my university’s school newspaper as a copy editor, writer, blogger and editor and participated on SMU-TV, the university’s student run morning broadcast. All of my experience with journalism has helped my transition into PR go smoothly and I can’t wait to begin my career.
My business minor has provided me with a general understanding of finance, accounting, marketing and management. All of which I know will benefit me with any career choice.
I thrive off meeting new people and hearing what they have to say. I am confident, organized and communicative, qualities that make me approachable and have gotten me to where I am today.
In 2011 I was the social chair of my sorority, Chi Omega. I planned and organized all of my sorority’s events throughout the two semesters. The position provided me with even more experience communicating with others, working under a deadline and staying within a set budget.
I am most proud of my recent news package that was aired on theĀ 33 News’ iCampus segment, my graphics used for SMU-TV’s interview with Bob Schieffer and my participation with SMU-TV’s interview when Katie Couric visited.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, socializing with friends and family, traveling and making sure I am up to date on what is going on around me. I am a true Texan at heart. I was born in Fort Worth and now reside in Dallas and am proud to be here. I am excited to begin the next stage in my life and cannot wait to see what I’m going to do next.
